Intelligence services on alert: ISIL plans assassination of Queen Elizabeth II

Britain will organize a ceremony next weekend marking 70 years since the end of World War II, and the Mail on Sunday writes that the local police are in a race against time to thwart an alleged plan by the Islamic State to carry out an assassination of Queen Elizabeth II during the ceremony on Saturday, reports the Patria news agency.

As the tabloid claims, police and MI5 have been mobilized, striving to do everything possible to prevent British ISIL members, on orders from their commanders at the Islamic State headquarters in Syria, from killing the queen by activating an improvised explosive device in a pressure cooker, similar to the one that caused bloodshed and chaos at the Boston Marathon.

The celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Japan will be organized in the very center of London, and a large number of citizens and high-ranking guests are expected to attend. If an attack like the one described by the Mail on Sunday occurs, it would be a true terrorist 'spectacle' and proof that local extremists are indeed capable of sowing chaos in Britain and its capital.

Citing unnamed sources, the newspaper states that security services have urgently begun revising their security plans for the ceremony after recently discovering a very specific threat directed at the queen herself, as well as Prince Charles and other members of the royal family, who are also expected to be at Saturday's ceremony.

Upon hearing of the assassination threat, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly became defiant and has no intention of backing out of participating in the celebration of the war victory and paying tribute to fallen soldiers.
