Tahirović: Karadžić's sentence is proof that every crime will be punished

THE HAGUE, (Patria) - Murat Tahirović, president of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide, said after the verdict against Radovan Karadžić, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, that they are satisfied with the verdict, but that they expected Karadžić to be convicted of genocide in another seven municipalities.

"We are satisfied, we are glad that the Trial Chamber changed the sentence to life imprisonment, and that is sufficient in a way. Considering all the events in the region, we are still satisfied. You never have justice in its entirety, given that so many people lost their lives. This is a signpost for future generations that every crime will be punished," said Tahirović.

Associations of victims from BiH will hold a meeting today with the prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts, Serge Brammertz, to see what is happening with the verdicts against Ratko Mladić and Simatović and Stanišić.
