World media on Srebrenica: Genocide the UN could have prevented

The central event, one could say in the world, today is the commemoration of 20 years since the genocide in Srebrenica, and the front pages of world media are largely striving to follow today's event at the Memorial Center in Potočari, reports the Patria news agency.

American media largely mention the arrival of Bill Clinton, who, together with Madeleine Albright and certain American officials, will find his place in the ''saddest place in Europe''.

Yahoo also writes that today in Srebrenica over 50,000 people are expected, who will accompany 136 coffins with the remains of newly identified victims of the 1995 genocide. 

''The United Nations did nothing to prevent the massacre in Srebrenica, and Dutch soldiers could only watch as Serbian soldiers separated men from women, to later execute them and bury them in the forest'', states the American portal and the second most popular search engine. 

NewsMax, PewSearch and similar portals state that the resolution on Srebrenica was defeated in the UN Security Council by a Russian veto, which thus once again insulted the victims of the genocide, as well as the families of the survivors. 

Business Insider also commented on the arrival of Aleksandar Vučić, and in the text they say that ''Serbia, which supported Bosnian Serbs before and after the war, which claimed 100,000 lives, will be represented by Aleksandar Vučić, a former ultranationalist, now a pro-European''. 

Business Insider noted that one Serbian representative had already acknowledged that genocide was committed in Srebrenica, namely Boris Tadić in 2005 on the tenth anniversary of the commemoration. At the end of the text, BI states that even two decades later, ''Bosnia remains frozen by the ethnic divisions that fueled the war''.

They also commented on Russia's veto, which they said was welcomed with enthusiasm by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić and Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, reports N1.
