World Health Day: Disease Prevention is One of the Most Effective Forms of Protection

(Patria) - On the occasion of World Health Day, which is celebrated today, April 7, under the slogan "United for Health - Stand with Science", the Institute for Health and Food Safety of Zenica (INZ) wishes to particularly emphasize the importance of making health decisions based on evidence and modern scientific knowledge.

Prevention for the Youngest and Women

In this context, INZ, in cooperation with the Zenica Health Center, has dedicated the entire month of April to health and primary prevention.

Special focus is placed on HPV vaccination as one of the most effective measures for protecting the health of children and young people. The HPV vaccine protects against infections that can lead to serious illnesses, including cervical cancer, and represents a safe and proven effective preventive intervention.

Therefore, INZ invites all children and young people aged 9 to 26 to take advantage of this opportunity and get vaccinated against HPV for free during April at the Health Center (HES), every working day between 8 AM and 2 PM.

The Institute for Health and Food Safety of Zenica bases its activities on the principles of evidence-based medicine, following the recommendations of relevant international organizations and contemporary research in public health, thereby ensuring quality and effective health protection measures for the population.

Particular emphasis is placed on disease prevention through scientifically confirmed measures, with vaccination representing one of the most effective forms of protection.

At the same time, regular preventive check-ups play a crucial role in maintaining health, as they enable early detection of diseases and timely treatment. In this context, regular mammography screenings play an important role in the early detection of breast cancer and significantly contribute to reducing mortality from this disease.

We remind you that this year, a permanent Preventive Program for Early Detection of Breast Changes has been launched in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, covering all women in the canton aged 50 to 69, who will receive personalized invitation letters in the coming period with a proposed appointment and all necessary instructions.

Simultaneously, the Institute actively implements the "One Health" concept, which involves an integrated approach to the health of humans, animals, and the environment. As a unique institution in the region systematically implementing this approach, we recognize that contemporary health challenges, including infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and the impact of environmental factors, are interconnected and require a coordinated, multidisciplinary, science-based response.
