Swiss cyclists visited 14 countries, and also tried Bosnian burek

Two 20-year-old Swiss men, Lucas Gutknecht and Kevin Kempter, set off on an 11,000 km bike journey on August 3 and by January 22 had visited 14 countries in 173 days, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

They cycled through Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Iran. From Iran they took a ferry to Dubai, then flew to Hanoi (Vietnam), and from there cycled through Laos, Thailand, ending their journey in Malaysia. They avoided passing through Afghanistan and Pakistan.

They were in Bosnia and Herzegovina as early as the beginning of September and recorded an interesting video. They visited Herzegovina, tried burek, but also criticised the large amounts of garbage along the road.

They set off with a budget of 6,000 Swiss francs. For most of their journey they slept in a tent, and there were also difficult situations when in Bulgaria it rained for five consecutive nights while they were in the tent, and food poisoning in Turkey.

Their bikes literally fell apart when they arrived in Vietnam. During the trip they saw beautiful sights of Cappadocia in Turkey, beaches in Thailand...

- Some days were really hard, but we try to remember only the best moments. We are proud of ourselves for successfully completing this journey - the duo said.
