All first-graders in Stari Grad received backpacks and school supplies

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - This year, 231 first-graders were enrolled in the municipality of Stari Grad, and on the first school day, all of them received school backpacks and supplies. At Primary School "Sejh Muhamed efendija Hadžijamaković" on
Hrid, an official outdoor reception was held for twenty first-graders, and they were welcomed to the school benches by the municipal mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and the school administration. While respecting all the hygiene and epidemiological measures in force, the first-graders watched a relevant welcome video in the schoolyard, and on their chairs, they found backpacks with pencil cases, notebooks, and other supplies, as well as sweets for a sweeter start to the school year.

The municipal mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, congratulated the first-graders on the start of their schooling today, and wished the parents fewer worries and successful schooling for their children.

"I wish you a happy start to your schooling, that you will be good students and become good people. I hope that after primary and secondary school you will continue your education, and it is our obligation to help you and invest in your education because children are the future of our country. I hope that this scourge that has befallen the entire planet will soon end and that we will organize receptions for all first-graders starting next school year and see each other more often in our schools," said Mayor Hadžibajrić.

In addition to school backpacks and supplies, contactless dispensers were distributed to all primary schools in Stari Grad yesterday. At the suggestion of the Parents' Council of the primary schools in Stari Grad, the municipal mayor issued an urgent order for the procurement of contactless dispensers, which will enable hand disinfection at the entrance to the schools and contribute to increasing the safety level of all students.

As stated by the principal of Primary School "Sejh Muhamed efendija Hadžijamaković", Emina Hrnjić, this school year begins in different circumstances, but she expressed hope that it will also be an opportunity for everyone to develop their own potential in the face of new challenges.

"School will be your new home, and it is our job to ensure that you are comfortable in that home. We all have a task ahead of us, and we expect parents to find ways to explain to their children
what obligations await them, not to set unrealistic goals, because grades should be secondary, and the emphasis should be on the well-being of children, encouraging learning and acquiring knowledge," said Principal Hrnjić.

Despite the difficult circumstances in which they are starting their schooling, the first-graders were happy about coming to school today and their first meeting with the teacher. For them, this is a completely new experience, but they are ready for new knowledge and skills, and they have already learned something.

"I learned to write, but I still don't know how to read. But I know I will be an excellent student," said six-year-old Danin. Twins Rijan and Alan also enrolled in the school on Hrid. "We will learn letters and numbers,
read and write. It will be great."

The project of distributing school backpacks and supplies was implemented through the municipal Service for Education, Culture and Sport.
