All first-graders in Stari Grad received backpacks and school supplies today

Along with an interesting entertainment program prepared by older students from elementary schools in Stari Grad, all first-graders today received backpacks with school supplies as a gift from the Municipality of Stari Grad for a happy start to the school year. The Municipality of Stari Grad has been holding a ceremonial reception for first-graders for several years, and today it was held for the first time on the plateau in front of the Municipality building, with the presence of several hundred guests: students, parents, teachers, principals..., the news agency Patria reported.

The attendees were greeted by the Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, who said he was pleased that the Municipality would thus alleviate the burden on parents in equipping first-graders, and that gifts were provided for 233 first-graders.

Wishing parents and students a successful start to their education and good grades, Mayor Hadžibajrić emphasized that the Municipality will continue to think about its youngest citizens and their safe childhood and education in the future.

- Today we are distributing backpacks to first-graders and wish them a happy start to their schooling, and next week we will begin the implementation of another major project in the elementary schools of Stari Grad that will increase the safety and security of our children, announced Hadžibajrić. He added that the Municipality has invested heavily in school buildings and their infrastructure in previous years, with nearly six million KM allocated for these purposes.

Entertainment Program

In the entertainment program, students from Stari Grad schools performed numerous musical numbers and dance routines, and at the end of the program, first-graders were given backpacks with notebooks, pencil cases, colored pencils, markers, sketchpads... The project was implemented through the municipal Service for Education, Culture, and Sport.

Among the first-graders who received backpacks today were Malik and Amina from Elementary School "Hamdija Kreševljaković," who said they liked school and were happy to socialize with other children.

"We like socializing with children and drawing on the board the most," said these first-graders.

Their teacher, Aida Jerlagić, said that such an event is of great importance for children, and thanked the Municipality for organizing it.

"The most beautiful thing of all is that they are so happy today, they dance, play, applaud other students, and for them, this is a very important event," said teacher Jerlagić.

233 First-Graders Enrolled This Year

This year, 233 first-graders were enrolled in Stari Grad, including 111 boys and 122 girls. The first-graders are distributed among 12 classes and all six elementary schools in the area of Stari Grad and the Mjedenica Institute. The number of enrolled first-graders per school is as follows: Elementary School "Saburina" 23 students, "Edhem Mulabdić" 57 students, "Hamdija Kreševljaković" 34 students, "Mula Mustafa Bašeskija" 60 students, "Vrhbosna" 31 students, "Šejh Muhamed ef. Hadžijamaković" 18 students, and Mjedenica Institute 10 students.
