Svetlana Cenić: Those in power are gravediggers of reforms who should be banned from public appearances

Professor Svetlana Cenić, an economic expert, analyzed for the Patria news agency the latest statements by, as she says, the cheerful Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić, regarding citizens' spending, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- Our cheerful prime minister confused three hundred things in those statements, what the consumer basket is, what the average consumer basket means, so that cannot be a measure for determining the minimum wage - says Cenić.

She explains that the consumer basket is formed based on household surveys, not on surveys in shopping centers.

- The shopping centers that Fadil Novalić surveyed should also be checked, and he did not check what they take and what is domestic, what the prices are, whether that even represents consumer habits. Secondly, in all countries around the world, people strive to stimulate the spending of their citizens because that also stimulates production. All Western countries do this - says Cenić.

She reminds that our government lives mostly from revenues based on customs duties, i.e., products that are mostly imported.

- Only our cheerful prime minister talks about our citizens spending here and there, instead of saying thank God they are spending. The way he later tried to correct himself is very clumsy. I wonder what kind of team he has around him that no one draws his attention to this - she questions.

Cenić warned that if Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the EU, want economic reforms to succeed, there is a first and basic rule.

- Ban Fadil Novalić, Željka Cvijanović, Bakir Izetbegović, Dragan Čović, Milorad Dodik from appearing in public and saying anything at all because it is counterproductive. They are the gravediggers of these reforms, not only through their statements but also through their actions, and the statements they give are humiliating.
