Swedish Prime Minister Resigns Just Hours After Appointment

(Patria) - Sweden's first female Prime Minister, Magdalena Andersson, resigned just hours after her appointment, BBC reports.

Andersson was elected to parliament this morning, and just a few hours later she resigned because her budget proposal did not receive support, and the centrist party that was a coalition partner left the government.

Instead of the Prime Minister's proposal, the Swedish parliament accepted the budget proposal that came from the right-wing opposition.

Andersson told reporters that she had informed the Speaker of Parliament that she wished to resign, but also that she would try again to become head of government.

Andersson earned the nickname Bulldozer in her country for her openness, and before politics, she was a swimmer.
