Sweden co-sponsors Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica: We honor the victims and the families of the victims

(Patria) - Sweden will co-sponsor the UN Draft Resolution, which would declare July 11th as the "International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica 1995" and will thus honor the victims and the families of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, the Swedish Embassy announced.

"The genocide in Srebrenica that occurred in 1995 has been confirmed by the judgments of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice. Sweden is therefore co-sponsoring the United Nations Draft Resolution on Srebrenica to honor the victims and the families of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica.

The genocide in Srebrenica that occurred in 1995 must never be forgotten or minimized. We must remember and honor the victims, contribute to reconciliation, and learn from history. It is unacceptable to deny the existence of the horrific crimes committed during the conflict, just as it is unacceptable to glorify individuals
convicted of these crimes.

It is expected that the UN General Assembly will vote on the Resolution on May 2nd", the Embassy stated.
