(Patria) - On the occasion of November 25th, Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a reminder of the thousand-year existence of our homeland, its history, and its values, a Ceremonial Session of the Ilidža Municipal Council was held today.
Addressing numerous dignitaries and guests, the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, spoke about the historical significance of the First Session of the State Anti-fascist Council of National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Eighty years ago, statehood was restored and the unity of all peoples was proclaimed. These are ideals that should be strived for today more than ever - said the municipal mayor Nermin Muzur, and added:
- In Ilidža, we know well what it was like during the aggression to defend what was defined in 1943. Some gave the best years of their lives so that we could gather here today and mark the anniversary of one of the most significant dates in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We in Ilidža Municipality believe that the most important cells in our homeland, the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are precisely the local communities and municipalities. Today, in peace, we are fighting for one of the most successful local communities, with the highest scholarships for high school and university students, and the largest number of business entities.
Therefore, through our effort, work, and dedication, we strive to be the healthiest, strongest, and best cell of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We want public interest to be above personal interest; when we achieve that, every individual will be better off.
As part of the marking of BiH Statehood Day, a delegation of Ilidža Municipality, led by Mayor Nermin Muzur, President of the Ilidža Municipal Council Tarik Stambolić, and his deputies Selver Zećirović and Amar Bungur, paid tribute to the martyrs and fallen soldiers by laying flowers at the Central Memorial in Ilidža and at the Memorial Ossuary of NOR fighters in Ilidža.
In addition to the delegation of Ilidža Municipality, citizens of Ilidža, members of veteran associations, and political parties also attended the marking of one of the most important dates of our homeland.
Finally, on behalf of Ilidža Municipality and Mayor Nermin Muzur, we wish all Bosnians and Herzegovinians a happy Statehood Day of our only homeland.
