Day of the Municipality of Ilidža Marked with a Ceremonial Session of the Municipal Council

(Patria) - The Day of the Municipality of Ilidža was marked on March 12th with a ceremonial session of the Municipal Council of Ilidža, where the Municipality of Ilidža awards for 2024 were presented.

Along with a large number of guests from public, political, and cultural life of Ilidža, the ceremony marking the 28th anniversary of the reintegration of the municipality of Ilidža, held at the Hills hotel, was attended by ministers of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, the Speaker of the KS Assembly, mayors of municipalities, speakers of municipal councils, deputies of the KS Assembly, councilors of the Municipal Council of Ilidža, as well as employees of the Municipality of Ilidža.

In an engaging address, the Speaker of the Municipal Council of Ilidža, Tarik Stambolić, stated that Ilidža has played a very significant role throughout history and that it can be proud of it.

- I often feel that the importance of Ilidža and its free spaces during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina is not sufficiently discussed. Despite this, I believe that today's generations are aware of the contribution made by our loved ones when they first fought for something of their own. Their struggle today is our guide, our motive, and our inspiration to work for the benefit of all citizens of Ilidža - said Stambolić.

Mayor Nermin Muzur reflected on the historical significance of marking March 12th - the Day of the Municipality of Ilidža, stating that Ilidža has achieved significant progress and advancement in many areas in a short period.

- We have presented awards to the most deserving individuals and collectives for 2024. Thank you to everyone who has helped us improve the quality of life for our fellow citizens and their environment, thank you to my colleagues as well as my predecessors who have done good things for Ilidža.

During the address, a video lasting several minutes presented numerous projects that have been realized or are in the process of realization, confirming the commitment to the development of this local community.

- We can boast of record budgets, we are the municipality with the highest scholarships for pupils and students, we are the second municipality in terms of fiscal turnover in FBiH, we attract large companies that expand capacities, open facilities, and create new jobs. We are the absolute tourism leader with the highest number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays, and we continue to work and build to position Ilidža where it belongs - at the very top - said the Mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža.

The numerous guests were also addressed by the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk, the Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikšić, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Denis Zvizdić.

Among the many messages sent by the speakers tonight, the words of Denis Zvizdić were particularly symbolic, who said that Ilidža is a true paradigm and a message to other authorities in our country.

As every year at the Ceremonial Session of the Municipal Council of Ilidža on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality, letters of thanks, plaques, and charters were awarded.

The individual Golden Plaque was awarded (posthumously) to Nazim Mahmutović, for his contribution to the unblocking of the City of Sarajevo (Tunnel – DB), as well as for his selfless, professional, and expert assistance in improving the conditions and quality of life for the citizens of the Municipality of Ilidža.

For his long-term work in the development and strengthening of the Association of War Veterans of the Municipality of Ilidža, as well as his exceptional contribution to resolving status issues, the Golden Plaque was also awarded to Samir Kurtović, president of the trade union of state employees and officials in FBiH.

The collective Golden Plaque went to KK Ilidža for its significant contribution to the field of sports development through the education of young people, their gathering, and the promotion of the Municipality of Ilidža in the field of sports.

For an exceptional contribution to the field of social activities development and the promotion of the Municipality of Ilidža in the field of culture, the Golden Collective Plaque was awarded to the Association KUD Ilidža.

The Charter for Lifetime Achievement was awarded (posthumously) to Dr. Fahrudin Ćorović Coca for his significant contribution to medicine even before the aggression, and then during and after the aggression.

Letters of thanks from the Municipality of Ilidža were awarded to the Association Riding Club Butmirski galop, while the Defense Plaque was awarded to Terović Almir and Mirsad Durmo, and posthumously to Ismet Delić.

The awards were presented to the recipients and their family members by the Mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža, Nermin Muzur.

After a fitting musical program by the Hamza Choir and a joint iftar, the mufti of Sarajevo, Dr. Nedžad ef. Grabus, briefly addressed the guests and recited a prayer.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that earlier today, member of the Presidency of BiH Dr. Denis Bećirović and Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković visited the Municipality of Ilidža and were the first to extend congratulations on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality.
