Year of Operation of the Centre for Healthy Aging Celebrated

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Centre for Healthy Aging of the municipalities Centar and Stari Grad today celebrated the first anniversary of its operation at its premises. Along with numerous users, the celebration was attended by the mayors of the municipalities Stari Grad and Centar, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and Nedžad Ajnadžić.

Exactly one year ago today, the two leaders of the central city municipalities signed a Partnership Agreement, marking the beginning of the operation of the Centre for Healthy Aging at Muhameda Kantardžića Street 3 (Svjetlost building). The Municipality of Centar provided a space of approximately 200m2, and numerous activities are maintained through joint financing.

In a very short time, the Centre for Healthy Aging has become a very popular place for socializing for members of the third age from Centar and Stari Grad. Today, the Centre has almost 300 members, of whom 200 are very active.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, congratulated all users and stated that the Centre for Healthy Aging is the best proof of how two neighboring local self-governments can implement useful projects when there is mutual will.

- We are currently in negotiations with the leadership of the Municipality of Centar to open another similar service, probably again in the territory of the Municipality of Centar, given that we have a shortage of such spaces in Stari Grad.

Mayor Hadžibajrić also spoke about the importance of caring for the elderly.

- Care for the elderly should be ingrained in every person and part of home upbringing, because the way we treat our parents is the same way we should treat other elderly people. After all, we will all reach that age, because no one goes back to youth, but to old age, and it will be important to us whether we will have someone to help us too - said Mayor Hadžibajrić.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Centar, Nedžad Ajnadžić, congratulated the users, and especially the coordinators and other employees of the Centre for Healthy Aging.

- This center is a big thank you to our grandmothers, grandfathers, and grandmas, for investing in younger generations through their hard work. You definitely deserve better, and we from the local self-government will strive to improve the work of such places and open new ones - Mayor Ajnadžić announced, and then presented awards to the oldest and most active members of the center.

Then followed the entertainment part of the celebration, the choir "Ruže" (Roses), which operates within the center, sang, and they were joined by the performers of last month's concert "Bistrička raja" (Bistrica's gang) Semir Cerić Koke, Amela Zuković, and Kemal Hasić.
