Solemn Promotion of 6,369 Graduates and Master’s Degree Holders of the University of Sarajevo

The solemn promotion and awarding of diplomas to graduates and master’s degree holders of the University of Sarajevo will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015, in the "Juan Antonio Samaranch" hall in Sarajevo, starting at 11 AM, it was announced at a press conference held today at the Rectorate of the University of Sarajevo, reports the Patria News Agency.

Emphasizing that the Solemn Promotion of graduating students of the University of Sarajevo is the most visible annual event in the University's work, Rector Prof. Dr. Muharem Avdispahić stated:

"We are educating academic citizens who will make this society better, contribute to the process of democratic reconstruction of this country; economic and cultural progress."

Rector Avdispahić said that out of 6,369 candidates who will be awarded diplomas on Saturday, 5,266 have earned their degrees within the first and second cycles, or integrated studies in the case of three faculties of the medical group.

"In the calendar year 2015, we will promote a total of 80 PhDs, of whom 18 have achieved this highest degree through structured doctoral studies of the third cycle. Their results will be presented at the December promotion," said Avdispahić.

Recalling that since 2013, the levels of education according to the European Qualifications Framework have been recorded in diploma supplements, and that since 2014, the competencies acquired by completing the study program have been included in diploma supplements, Rector Avdispahić emphasized that this year, for the first time, all graduating students will also receive an alumni card of the University of Sarajevo.

Diplomas will be awarded to all graduating students of the first and second cycles of study in the "Juan Antonio Samaranch" hall.

Based on the decision of the Senate of the University of Sarajevo, the most successful students will receive special recognitions. The Golden Badge of the University of Sarajevo award is given to the top 1% of the total number of graduating students of the 1st cycle of study, as well as to the top 1% of the total number of graduating students of the 2nd cycle of study with an overall average grade achieved during the 1st and 2nd cycles of study above 9.50.

The Silver Badge of the University of Sarajevo award is given to the next 2% of the total number of graduating students of the 1st cycle of study, or 2% of the total number of graduating students of the 2nd cycle of study with an overall average grade achieved during the 1st and 2nd cycles of study above 9.00. The Charter of the University of Sarajevo is awarded to the best student of a specific faculty or academy whose average grade is less than 9.00, but above 8.00, it was announced from UNSA.
