Growing crowd in front of the General Hospital: Citizens write letters of support

A large number of citizens came today in front of the General Hospital Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš where they are writing letters of support to doctors, although the process of merging with UKCS is currently halted, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

This information was also confirmed by the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Elmedin Konaković, on the show Tema dana on BHT1, stating that without a decision by the Sarajevo Canton Assembly and both houses of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the merger of the hospitals cannot and will not take place.

In the same show, the guest was Dr. Dragan Stevanović, an employee of the General Hospital and president of the Management Board of the Medical Chamber of the Sarajevo Canton, who welcomed the Prime Minister's statement but also emphasized that an extra-institutional merger of the hospital had begun, as doctors from certain departments were signing a mutual request for transfer to UKCS on the orders of the now former director Sebija Izetbegović, who is now the director of UKCS. However, after the public outcry, this illegal process was stopped.

From the General Hospital, they confirmed that the hospital is operating normally and that there are no transfers of doctors.

On the other hand, the Minister of Health of the Sarajevo Canton, Zilha Ademaj, canceled her participation in the show, stating in her explanation that the Ministry of Health of the Sarajevo Canton and the Government of the Sarajevo Canton have not made any decision regarding the status of the General Hospital, and she said that she is only a member of the Working Group of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that is considering the merger of the General Hospital with UKCS.

- It is inappropriate for only officials of the Sarajevo Canton to speak about this - said Ademaj.
