Meeting tomorrow: What will happen to over 100 TTU workers after the sale of part of the assets

Part of the assets of Tvornica transportnih uređaja (TTU) Tuzla today, in the fifth round of free sale, got a new owner for six million KM. The newly formed company TTU Energetik d.o.o. Tuzla, behind which are Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH) and the Banovići Brown Coal Mine, and workers will hold a meeting tomorrow where they will decide what to do next, and as the President of the TTU Workers' Union Mehmed Terzić told Patria, nearly 110 workers will "remain hanging in the air."

It was promised that 65 TTU workers who have not met the conditions for retirement will have priority in employment in this company. There are a total of 240 workers, about 30 of them are going into retirement, but what will happen to the rest of the workers, no one knows.

- Tomorrow, a workers' meeting will be held where we will officially take a stance regarding the sale of assets, restarting production, employment, and the like. I don't know what the workers will decide; perhaps they will not want to leave the factory. There are people who are neither eligible for retirement nor, certainly due to their age, desirable to employers - said Terzić.

The new owner should take over the purchased part of the assets on January 10 next year. The biggest problem is that not all employees will get a job as was promised last year.

Incidentally, the sale includes halls for the production of reducers and heavy equipment, a sandblasting facility and its extension, a boiler room, a restaurant, a construction barracks, a medical clinic, and a storage facility for fuel, lubricants, and finished products. Interestingly, the union representatives have not seen the purchase agreement, and they have no written guarantee that their problems will be resolved, i.e., that they will indeed have priority in establishing an employment relationship.

We remind you that TTU workers went on a hunger strike. The Federal Government, with the support of the cantonal government headed by Bego Gutić (SDA), promised last year to open a new company, provide employment for these workers, and pay their pension contributions.
