Extraordinary session of the House of Peoples tomorrow?

At yesterday's marathon session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, which lasted more than 12 hours, MPs adopted the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, and amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH. This way, this house fulfilled the conditions of the Council of Europe's Committee of Experts (MONEYVAL) to prevent BiH from being placed on the blacklist of countries along with Ukraine, Iran, and North Korea in the area of money laundering and terrorism financing.

However, the law is not considered adopted until it receives confirmation from the House of Peoples, but the session is scheduled for June 6. Moneyval set a deadline of June 1 for these laws to be adopted, and Samir Omerhodžić, a member of the BiH delegation to Moneyval, told the Patria News Agency that "we have gained nothing if the law is not adopted by June 1".

Following these statements, the Bosniak Caucus in the House of Peoples submitted an initiative to hold an extraordinary session of the House of Peoples, which should be held tomorrow, in order for the law to be adopted by June 1.

Mehmed Bradarić, a delegate in the House of Peoples, told the Patria News Agency that the final decision will be known during the day.

- The Bosniak Caucus submitted the initiative, so we will see if it is accepted - said Bradarić.
