Meeting between Lagumdžija and Hammond: Tackling concrete problems

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zlatko Lagumdžija met in Sarajevo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Philip Hammond.

Lagumdžija expressed satisfaction with the visit of Minister Hammond, especially since it comes at a time when Bosnia and Herzegovina is preparing to sign the guidelines for accession to the European Union. He said that he sees the visit as a new impetus for BiH's European integration and a message that the Initiative to launch and accelerate the process of European integration of our country is a new chance that our country must not miss.

- The initiative is a chance to tackle concrete problems that concern all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, given that the focus is on economic reforms and Chapters 23 and 24, which concern the fight against organized crime and corruption - said Lagumdžija.

He informed Minister Hammond that the Initiative to launch and accelerate the process of European integration, which was given an additional impetus by Minister Hammond and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has been assessed as timely and positive by all political actors in the country without exception. He added that the Initiative also represents a creative approach to finding solutions to the problem of stagnation in BiH's accession to the European Union.

Lagumdžija also informed Minister Hammond that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has agreed on the Proposal for a Joint Statement on the commitment of political leaders in BiH to undertake the necessary reforms within the framework of BiH's accession process to the European Union, which has been forwarded to political leaders for adoption, as well as about the current political situation in the country with a reference to the formation of government after the General Elections.
