Čović and Izetbegović to meet on Wednesday, agreement on Election Law or second phase of relations

MOSTAR, (Patria) - The President of the Croatian Democratic Union, Dragan Čović, announced a meeting with the SDA and a continuation of talks on the Election Law.

"On Wednesday, if we agree on a package that will resolve the Election Law, then it makes sense to work on it for another 15 or 20 days. We will assess on Wednesday whether there is anything to it or not. It will be known on Wednesday whether we are talking or have entered another phase," Čović said, adding that he will first discuss Mostar with Izetbegović, and then the political situation.

The HDZ president said that elections in Mostar will be held, but the decision must be made by the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

Čović also took the opportunity to reiterate his stance that Željko Komšić is the second "Bosniak" member of the BiH Presidency, speaking about the "Asim Sarajlić" affair that is shaking the SDA.

"That is a job for the SDA, where there is crime, it should be cleared up. If it wasn't cleared up when two Bosniak members were elected, they should do it now," he said.

He also spoke about the migrant crisis, stating that we need to react adequately.

"We received overviews from the state border service on what is needed. Regulations must be adopted so that people entering BiH cannot wander around BiH for months, for days, until their status is resolved. They will be stopped at the border and given 24 hours to make decisions. This is a very clear opportunity for criminal groups to profit or operate by trafficking people and disrupting the little state apparatus that functions. We must avoid any additional crisis due to the additional influx of people who have already started. It is a particular challenge for us. A message to all colleagues who make up the executive and legislative authorities at all levels, as well as the opposition, to act similarly on this issue," said Čović.
