Meeting of members of the Joint Commission for Defence and Security of BiH with the EUFOR Commander in BiH

Chairman of the Joint Commission for Defence and Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić, member of the Joint Commission Mario Karamatić and the Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH Boško Šiljegović spoke today with the EUFOR Commander in BiH, Major General Johann Luif. 

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the current activities of the Joint Commission for Defence and Security of BiH, the situation in the defence and security sector, and the mission and current activities of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The participants also discussed the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH) on the destruction of surplus ammunition and mine-explosive devices, which are being carried out through the „Explode“ programme, engagement in assisting the civilian population, the demining process, and the training of AFBiH members, in which EUFOR has a special role through the engagement of mobile teams.

Support was also given to the initiative for organising occasional mutual working meetings, during which EUFOR assistance to AFBiH members would be agreed upon with the aim of more efficiently carrying out their regular mission. 

At the end of the meeting, Chairman Podžić informed General Luif about the results of last week's visit by members of the Joint Commission to the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
