Sušić: I am not surprised by Spahić's decision, it will be difficult to find his replacement

Head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team Safet Sušić told the Patria news agency that he learned three hours ago that the captain of the BiH national team, Emir Spahić, will bid farewell to the national team jersey.

- He called me and informed me of his decision. I respect it, he was a great player, he was the captain of this national team for 10 years and one of the best players. It will be very difficult to find a replacement for him, because at this moment we do not have one, but I also knew this would happen, because players from his generation are also saying goodbye - says Sušić.

He adds that the captain's farewell did not surprise him, because Spahić is aware that he would be 36 years old at the European Championship.

- Another thing is that he has many obligations in his club, which plays in the Champions League, and perhaps that is one of the reasons. But, if at some point I see that this national team is functioning poorly without him, that we do not have a proper replacement, I can always call him - added Sušić.

Incidentally, Sušić says that for now he does not know who could take over the captain's armband, but that everything will be known in the coming days.
