Supervisor for Brčko: Threats to state institutions could lead to revision of the Final Decision on Brčko

(Patria) - Brčko Supervisor Louis Crishock spoke with the presiding arbitrator of the Brčko Tribunal, Clint Williamson, and noted that the Tribunal is closely monitoring the latest developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Supervisor and the presiding arbitrator jointly emphasized the fact that, according to the Final Decision of the Arbitral Tribunal, as well as the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Brčko District exists within the sovereignty of BiH and is subordinate to the institutions of BiH.

The hinted threats from the leadership of Republika Srpska directed against state institutions and the constitutional order of BiH could therefore have serious implications for the Brčko District, the Office of the High Representative (OHR) announced.

Crishock called on all actors to respect the independence of the judiciary and avoid any actions that would jeopardize the constitutional order of BiH or state institutions, emphasizing that the need may arise for the Brčko Tribunal to assess whether such actions are in accordance with the provisions of the Final Decision.
