Trial of Jovan Tintor for crimes in Vogošća to begin in January

The trial of Jovan Tintor, former president of the Crisis Staff of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) in Vogošća, for crimes against humanity committed in the area of that settlement, should begin on January 9, 2017.

At the status conference held before the start of the trial, prosecutor Adis Nuspahić said that the Prosecution plans to hear 125 witnesses, 13 of whom with protection measures, as well as four experts, to prove the indictment, BIRN reports, via NAP.

Presiding Judge Minka Kreho ordered the Prosecution to withdraw from a certain part of the witnesses, as many are planned to prove the same points of the indictment.

The defense attorney for the accused Tintor, Nina Kisić, indicated to the Court that the Defense plans to directly question 16 prosecution witnesses so they do not have to come again at the Defense's request.

Jovan Tintor is accused of unlawful detention, torture, beatings, forced labor, and the murder of a large number of victims of Bosniak and Croat nationality committed at several locations, including camps.

As a consequence of the crimes, as stated by the BiH Prosecutor's Office, almost the entire population of Bosniak and Croat nationality was expelled from the area of Vogošća and its surroundings by the end of 1992.

Tintor is accused as the president of the Crisis Staff in Vogošća.
