Court Bans Lukač's Decision: Vranj Must Be Reinstated!

The Municipal Court in Sarajevo has ordered the Federal Police Administration and its director, Dragan Lukač, to immediately reinstate Edin Vranj to the position of Head of the Criminal Police Sector in the FUP, from which he was dismissed a few months ago, the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) has confirmed. Vranj's lawyer, Ahmet Žilić, briefly confirmed this information to our newspaper.

Yes, a decision has been made on security, or rather on reinstating Mr. Vranj to the position from which he was dismissed – Žilić told us without going into detail.

Lukač dismissed Vranj, his closest associate, allegedly due to accusations of providing information to the media about the formation of a crisis headquarters in connection with the February 7th demonstrations in our country. However, the official explanation for Vranj's dismissal was never published.

As confirmed to us, the Municipal Court has now banned the execution of Lukač's decision on his dismissal and ordered that Vranj be returned to his job and position. This decision is valid until the conclusion of the proceedings before the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, in which Vranj challenged the dismissal, Patria reports.

After his dismissal, Vranj spoke on Face TV's evening news, where he criticized the work of police structures during the demonstrations.

- The security system did not act in coordination; Lukač should have reacted earlier when the Presidency building was attacked. If I had been in his place, I would have reacted earlier. Such an event requires ordinary citizens to react, let alone the police – Vranj said, among other things.

He then stated that it is evident that leading officials of law enforcement agencies are "at war with each other," and that they are somehow privatizing them. Vranj advocated for the formation of an independent commission to determine who failed in this case.

The chief operative of the Federal Police Administration stated quite openly, based on his knowledge, that "most politicians steal" and said that the FUP has filed a number of reports for millions in criminal activity, including against politicians.

- Prosecutions are a separate story. They manage and supervise investigations, and there are those who have devalued months of police work and who are under political influence and are corrupt. Exceptions aside – Vranj said.
