Milorad Momić, a war criminal extradited to Croatia in March 2011 from France, where he used the alias Guy Monier, is still on trial before the County Court in Osijek (Croatia), writes the Patria News Agency.
Precisely because of this trial, Amor Mašović will travel to Osijek on March 25th to testify before this Court against Momić, Patria has learned.
Momić was previously sentenced to three years in prison for the crime in Berak, at the Vukovar court in late 2012. The Supreme Court overturned that verdict. The indictment for Berak initially charged him with the murder of one woman and the abuse of several residents, but it was amended, so he was first tried only for participation in the beatings and abuse of Stanko Penavić from Berak.
The investigation against Momić continued in the summer, precisely because of the crimes in Trnovo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he was arrested again at that time. The Bosniaks, it is alleged, were captured in the UN protected zone in Srebrenica and taken to the front lines near Trnovo. They were shot in the back, and their bodies were burned. Horrific scenes can be seen in footage online, which went around the world and clearly shows the genocidal intent of the Scorpion members.
The members of the "Scorpions" were already tried for this atrocity in Serbia, where Momić was also investigated. He was extradited to Croatia because Croatia was prosecuting him for the crime in Berak, so Serbia handed over the Srebrenica case as well.
An investigation against Momić for war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina was launched back in 2012, but it was interrupted due to the time limit of the investigation. As Momić is also a French citizen, approval from the competent authorities of the French judiciary was awaited for his arrest.
