Court of BiH extends travel ban for OSA Chief Osman Mehmedagić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Court of BiH a few days ago extended the travel ban for the suspect Osman Mehmedagić, director of the Intelligence-Security Agency, which was first imposed in mid-July this year.

As confirmed for Patria, there have been no changes, and Mehmedagić will remain under the following measures for the next two months: Prohibition of meeting with certain persons from Article 126.a paragraph 1 point c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, in a way that the suspect Osman Mehmedagić is prohibited from contacting each other in any way with other suspects Denis Prcić, Melisa Belkić-Mujkanović, Emir Mujkanović, and contacting witnesses of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in this criminal case, including approaching them within a distance of 50 meters, and any contact and discussion about the case with any person other than his defense attorneys.

The suspect Osman Mehmedagić, in order to regularly perform his duties, may exceptionally communicate with witnesses of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other persons at a distance of less than 50 meters, but he is prohibited from discussing this case with those persons. He is obliged to inform the acting prosecutor in advance of any such contact.

The imposed prohibition measure will last as long as there is a need for it, and the justification for this measure will be reviewed every two months. The suspect is specifically warned that pre-trial detention may be imposed if he fails to comply with the measure imposed by this decision.

We remind you that Mehmedagić is under investigation in the "Diploma" case, issued by the American University in BiH owned by Prcić, which the BiH Prosecutor's Office claims was illegally issued and that there is no evidence that Mehmedagić ever studied at AU in BiH.

Although the BiH Prosecutor's Office announced a few months ago that an indictment would be filed in this case, this has not yet happened.

Otherwise, Mehmedagić's mandate as director of OSA expired in November 2019, but due to political disagreements and subsequent blockades, a new appointment of the director, deputy director, and chief inspector of OSA never took place.
