Court of BiH receives Dodik's request to buy out prison sentence

(Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received a request from Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska, to buy out the one-year prison sentence to which he was finally convicted for failing to respect the decisions of the High Representative in BiH.

Attorney Goran Bubić, who represents Dodik, submitted the official request for the buyout of the sentence yesterday, reportedly in the amount of 36,500 BAM.

However, the second part of the verdict for Dodik is, one could say, more severe for him, as it involves a ban on holding political office for the next six years.

The enforcement of the verdict began yesterday when the Central Election Commission of BiH revoked Dodik's mandate as President of Republika Srpska; however, this decision will become final after a ruling by the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH, following an appeal by Dodik's defense, which they have the right to file and had a two-day deadline to submit starting yesterday.

The final verdict and yesterday's decision by the CEC have sparked numerous reactions, both positive and negative.
