Court of BiH orders custody for Radomir Šušnjar accused of war crimes in Višegrad

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered custody for Radomir Šušnjar, accused of war crimes against Bosniak civilians in the past war.

The Court announced that custody for Šušnjar may last a maximum of two years from the day of arrest, i.e., no later than June 24, 2020, unless the Court decides otherwise.

The decision of the Court of BiH of November 13, 2013, by which a custody measure was imposed on the then-suspect Šušnjar, has been annulled.

At the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the Court in 2013 issued a decision imposing a one-month custody on Šušnjar and ordered an international warrant.

According to the order of the Court of BiH, the accused was handed over to BiH authorities in the extradition process from France on June 24 this year.

The indictment charges Šušnjar with participating in the illegal looting and imprisonment of 57 civilians of Bosniak nationality from the village of Koritnik, in a house on Pionirska Street in Višegrad, in a crime known as the “living bonfire”.

After imprisoning the civilians, the house was set on fire, and then shot at, to prevent the civilians from escaping.
