Subašić: Numerous criminals are free, some of them work in the police, municipality, parliaments

(Patria) - As part of the Srebrenica Memorial Center complex in Potočari, a facility for storing exhumed biological material, personal belongings and clothing of unidentified genocide victims was opened today. Among others, Munira Subašić, president of the Association Movement of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, addressed those present, stating that this is a historic day for all mothers and families of victims.

“We are fighting to find every bone. Each one is the greatest treasure in the world. Mothers say – if I could find just one bone of my son, wrap it in the finest silk, I would not regret dying,” said Subašić.

She recalled that she found the bones of her youngest son Nermin in 2013, in two mass graves.

“There was also genocide committed against the bones of our children, and now the worst genocide is what is being done to us, mothers, denying that we had children, glorifying criminals, lying… I am sorry that Serbia, which had a chance to heal its citizens and young people living in lies, to initiate that it be a sponsor of the resolution. As important as it is to us, it is more important to them,” she stated.

She reminded that a large number of criminals are still free.

“Five minutes ago I met a criminal who, before my eyes, raped people who may never speak of it. Some of them still wear uniforms in the police, work in municipalities, in parliaments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and have never repented. We must fight so that we do not give birth to such children, so that our children grow up in love, are valued and respected,” she concluded.

In addition to Subašić, the director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center Emir Suljagić also spoke, as well as the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy – given that the project presented today was achieved with the help of the US government, N1 reports.
