(Patria) - A larger number of students housed at the Bjelave Student Dormitory protested on Wednesday evening. Heating was turned off at the Bjelave Student Dormitory due to a gas leak in the boiler room.
For months, even years, student representatives have been warning about the poor condition of the boiler room and have requested repairs.
Although they have contacted the relevant Ministry of Higher Education, the KS Government, and the KS Assembly multiple times, the boiler room has never been repaired.
Students do not have hot water except during certain hours.
Their protest outside the dormitory was a response to the current situation within the dormitory.
Otherwise, the appointment of a director has been a lengthy saga, with the appointment being investigated by the KS Prosecutor's Office in the "Envelope" case.
The new Minister of Higher Education, Dušanka Bošković, has not yet commented on the situation in the student dormitories.
A few years ago, the windows and doors of the building in Nedžarići were replaced, and one of the pavilions at Bjelave was renovated, but the living conditions for students are not good.
