Students from Turkish universities and schools support Erdogan

A large number of students from the International Burch University in Sarajevo are closely following developments in Turkey, reports the BH News Agency Patria (NAP). Students are particularly interested in the local elections there, which will be held on March 30 this year.

Interestingly, most students support the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the students, the fact that he has made Turkey one of the biggest economic powers in the world today speaks best of him being on the right path.

Sead Skopljak (20) and Belmin Memišević (20), both electrical engineering students at Burch, say they are not sure if they know the political situation in Turkey well enough, but they base their assessment on the economic growth in this country.

- If there was something wrong with Erdogan's government, they certainly wouldn't be able to achieve such economic progress. But, given that Turkey is getting stronger and stronger, it is clear that these people should continue to be supported - Skopljak adds for NAP.

Students do not even see a problem with the ban on Twitter.

- Well, maybe the decision to ban Twitter shouldn't have been made so abruptly, but those networks certainly need to be controlled in some way - Memišević believes.

Interestingly, high school students from the international college are also following developments in Turkey. Kerim Smajiš and Arno Gunić say that if they lived in Turkey, they would probably vote for Erdogan.

- I think he is making the right moves. Even this idea of shutting down Twitter is not bad. Social networks close society, reduce communication among people, they do more harm than good - says Smajiš.

Igor Vuković, a third-year English language student, says that he sees Turkey as a country with two very strong political currents at the moment: the party of Prime Minister Erdogan, which is somewhat more conservative, and the parties gathered around a platform advocating for a European Turkey. He says that both sides have very good moves.

- Maybe I am closer to the political parties advocating for a European Turkey, but I don't think Erdogan is as radical as they want to portray him. He has very good decisions - says Vuković.
