Students Discuss Current Issues of European Integration

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of the University of Sarajevo hosted Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Special Representative of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Edin Dilberović, Director of the Directorate for European Integration.

During their visit to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies, Ambassador Wigemark and Dilberović held a lecture for students of the European Studies program and discussed the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the students.

With these visits, we continue a series of expert lectures by high-ranking European officials, intended for students of European Studies. Students of this prestigious program have the opportunity to discuss key issues and dilemmas facing the European Union today with experts.

As a result of the European integration process, the need for creating a new profile of experts in all fields with specific knowledge of Europe as an economic and political entity has intensified in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The interdisciplinary master's program in European Studies educates personnel in an innovative and modern way who will form the backbone of the integration process into a unified European space.

Ambassador Wigemark graduated from Harvard in 1984, and during his rich diplomatic career, he worked in Belgrade, Washington, Brussels, Kabul, and Moscow, as Deputy Head of Mission and Minister at the Embassy of Sweden. In 2008, he was appointed Head of the European Commission's Unit for Security Policy. Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark has been the Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Special Representative of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina since March 1, 2015.

Edin Dilberović completed his postgraduate studies in Political Economy and Political Science at New York University. From 2005-2008, he was the Ambassador-Head of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, OSCE, and other international organizations in Vienna, and later Head of the Department for the Council of Europe, OSCE, and regional initiatives at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Affairs.

Since 2012, he was also the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Federal Republic of Germany. He was appointed Director of the Directorate for European Integration in November 2015.
