
(Patria) - Students of the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) achieved an exceptional success at one of the world's most prestigious accordion competitions, the "Trophée Mondial de l’Accordéon".
The competition, organized by the World Accordion Confederation (Confédération Mondiale de l’Accordéon), was held from 25 to 30 November in the French town of Montrond.
This year's edition of the competition featured more than 500 candidates from 30 countries, evaluated by an international jury composed of experts from as many as 25 countries.
Five accordion students from the Music Academy of UNSA, from the class of Prof. Dr. Belma Šarančić and assistant MA Azmir Halilović, represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in various academic categories - Masters, Senior Varieté and Accordion Singer.
All five students placed in the top five in their categories, which is one of the greatest collective achievements of a music academy in the history of the world trophy.
In the Masters category, Hazim Mehmedić won first place and the winner's trophy, while Atif Krdžić took fourth and Damir Vreva fifth place.
In the Senior Varieté category, Armin Džafić won third place and a trophy, while Vedad Husomanović took fourth place. In the Accordion Singer category, Atif Krdžić won first place and the winner's trophy.
Assistant Azmir Halilović performed as part of the competition's opening program and also participated as the BiH delegate and a member of the esteemed international jury.
