Electricity Shock for Citizens of Republika Srpska

Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske will cover losses through the citizens' backs, but also develop new investments in hydroelectric power plants and wind farms. It is already certain that electricity in RS will soon become more expensive. Director Luka Petrović openly announces this, but for now, Elektroprivreda RS is not talking about the amount of the price increase.

Petrović explained that the Mine and Thermal Power Plant "Ugljevik", as an electricity producer in Srpska, initiated a tariff procedure a year ago and was approved an increase in the price of electricity at the power plant's gate, and that this will affect the regulated price of electricity for households and small businesses.

It is certain that at least 80 percent of consumers will feel the price increase, provided that the intentions of the Government of RS and Elektroprivreda are serious about providing subsidies for "privileged" consumers, which includes socially sensitive categories.

Elektroprivreda is considering subsidizing between 50 and 200 kilowatts per household. The price increase should happen in the next two months and will certainly further complicate the operations of business entities.
