Štrbački buk is the most beautiful waterfall in Una National Park

(Patria) - "Una! Una!", shouted Roman soldiers when they saw the beauty of the river upon arriving in this area. At least, that's what the legend says. Una means one, the only, the unique - and this name fully justifies itself, writes Punkufer.

One part of the Una National Park and River stands out for its beauty. This is Štrbački buk, a waterfall, or rather a series of waterfalls, at about 300 meters above sea level, while it is 24.5 meters high.

It is the highest and, according to many, the most beautiful waterfall in Una National Park. The waterfalls of the Una River cascade down it, forming travertine formations.

The power of the waterfalls can be felt in the noise and spray that splashes all around, which serves as a refreshment on hot summer days.

It is not surprising that Štrbački buk is one of the most visited points in the National Park, along with Martin Brod and Kulen Vakuf.

Educational panels line the park's trails, and visitors can learn more about the natural beauty and cultural-historical heritage of this area from them.

For adrenaline enthusiasts, there is also the possibility of rafting. Unlike some calmer rivers, rafting on the Una, i.e., Štrbački buk, will entertain and exhaust you properly.

The Una is a cascading river of untamed nature and emerald color, on which you can see waterfalls, river islands, cascades, and rapids.

It is the greatest natural asset by which the national park got its name, and it originates in the Croatian village of Donja Suvaja.

In addition to natural beauty, it also has added value in archaeological sites, remains of numerous fortresses and medieval towns such as Klišević Tower, the Ottoman fortress of Havala, and towns like Orašac, Ostrovica, and Rmanj.

At the beginning of the 20th century, on the riverbank, there were Una mills resembling stilt houses, wooden houses over the water. Members of the Japodi tribe, who inhabited this area, lived in such stilt houses, and today, in their honor, there is the beautiful tourist center Japodski otoci.

Check ticket prices here, and depending on the entrance, you will need to pay a maximum of 8 KM. Given that it is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it would be a shame not to witness it on one of your trips.
