Trojka Parties: Referendum on BiH Court Decisions is a New Criminal Offense!

(Patria) - The rule of law is a fundamental value of every democratic state and is of crucial importance for its functioning, while an independent and impartial judiciary is key to its establishment and implementation, it was announced today in a joint statement by the Trojka parties (NIP, NS, SDP).

"Besides the fact that any referendum on reviewing final court rulings deeply undermines the constitutional principle of the rule of law, as the decisions of the BiH Court are not reviewed in a referendum but are implemented, Dodik and Stevandić, by announcing a referendum on accepting the final decision of the BiH Court, which the RS National Assembly (NSRS) should allegedly decide on soon, are committing a new criminal offense against the constitutional order.

We expect the judicial institutions to do their job within their jurisdiction in this and any other case and to protect the principle of constitutionality and legality, as well as the principle that no individual can be above the Constitution and the law. We remind that, in addition to the case for which Dodik was convicted, another case is ongoing in which the judiciary is prosecuting Dodik, Višković, and Stevandić for the criminal offense of 'attack on the constitutional order'.

The lifting of detention and arrest warrants after they voluntarily appeared at the BiH Prosecutor's Office, along with the imposition of measures requiring mandatory reporting to the competent police authorities, does not mean that this case is over. On the contrary.

We believe that the public will be informed about the stage of the case and what further steps the BiH Prosecutor's Office has taken regarding this case," the statement said.
