Parties turn to believers ahead of elections: Čović at mass, SDA quotes Quranic verses

Some political parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina will once again use religious buildings and teachings in their campaign for the local elections on October 2 to attract voters – believers, Patria writes.

Analysts warn that this is an abuse of religion and manipulation of voters' religious feelings! BiH is a country with a large number of believers, so such political campaigns are not naive.

In leaflets that the coalition of SDA and SBiH in Kiseljak plans to distribute, verses from the Quran are quoted, reminding of the importance of unity among believers. And, these parties say, it is important for Muslims to unite precisely around these two parties.

The HDZ BiH has also started visiting churches and masses, several weeks before the elections, although they were rarely seen at prayers before. Member of the BiH Presidency and President of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović appeared at a mass in Komušina near Usora on August 15, and his party colleague and President of the Federation of BiH Marinko Čavara was in a church in Kreševo.

The authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot offer voters economic reforms and a safer society. Because of this, they have turned to voters' religious feelings, as well as increasingly harsh nationalist rhetoric, Patria writes.
