Right-wing parties vote no confidence in Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven

STOCKHOLM, (Patria) - The centre-right coalition united with the far-right in Sweden and voted no confidence today in Social Democratic Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, weakened after the parliamentary elections on September 9 in which no party won a majority.

A majority of 204 MPs, out of 349, voted no confidence in the prime minister, meaning all MPs from the right, centre and far-right, minus one vote, reports Beta.

The speaker of parliament will now propose a new prime minister, a process that could take weeks. Lofven will remain in the capacity of acting prime minister until a decision is made on who will replace him.

Lofven, the leader of the Social Democrats, came to power in 2014. However, his centre-left alliance won 144 seats in this month's elections, one seat more than the centre-right opposition.

Neither of the two main blocs intends to govern with the nationalists - the Sweden Democrats, the third largest party in the new parliament.
