Strike by six unions in front of the Sarajevo Canton Government on November 30, demanding a base salary of 400 KM

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Assembly of the Independent Union of Primary Education of FBiH - Cantonal Board KS decided that on November 30, on the day of the session of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton, which has the Draft Budget of KS for 2022 on its agenda, protests will be held in front of the Sarajevo Canton building, and a half-hour warning strike will be held in the kindergartens of JU Djeca Sarajeva and primary schools.

The protest rally will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and the warning strike in kindergartens and primary schools will be held on the same day from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.

In a press release from that union, they state that the protests and warning strike will be organized together with representatives of the other five unions: the Union of Secondary and Higher Education, Education, Science and Culture of BiH – Cantonal Board KS, the Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Administration Bodies, Judiciary and Public Institutions in FBiH – Coordination Board Sarajevo, the Police Union of KS, the University of Sarajevo Union, and the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of KS.

Due to epidemiological measures and considering that these are warning protests, the organizers will invite about 100 workers to attend the protests.

The organizers announce that during the protests and warning strike, workers will express their dissatisfaction due to the attitude of the Sarajevo Canton Government regarding the non-compliance with legal procedures, the failure to determine the amount, and the non-signing of the Agreement on the base salary for 2022 in the amount of 400 KM.

The organizers will address the participants of the protest in front of the KS Government building, and together with those present, they will send clear messages to the Sarajevo Canton Government that the unions will not stop with radical union actions, even if they have to organize a general strike in Sarajevo Canton.

It was announced that on Monday, November 22, an operational meeting of the presidents of the six unions will be held, at which all details regarding the organization of protests and warning strikes will be determined, and other union activities in the coming period will be agreed upon.

Yesterday, the president of the Healthcare Workers' Union in Sarajevo Canton gave verbal support to the organizers of the protests and warning strike, stating that it is very likely that healthcare workers in Sarajevo Canton, who have already been on strike for three years, will also join the protests and other union activities – according to the press release from the Independent Union of Primary Education of FBiH - Cantonal Board KS.
