Teachers' strike: Students in KS will not have the first two classes

(Patria) - The Independent Trade Union of Primary Education and Upbringing - Cantonal Board of SSOOiO Sarajevo Canton has officially confirmed that starting tomorrow, April 17, 2024, a warning strike will begin in all primary schools in Sarajevo Canton, which will last every day until the end of the school year.

The strike is organized under the motto "We demand education tailored to students and their teachers".

The strike, which will begin on April 17, means that students will not have the first two classes every day. In the first shift, the strike will last from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM, while in the second shift, the strike time will vary depending on when classes begin.

The goal of the strike is to fight against irresponsible authorities and to fight for satisfied workers and the teaching profession.

Among other things, it is demanded that the Pedagogical Standards and Norms, which jeopardize the rights of teachers, be repealed.

The resignation of the Minister of Education and Upbringing of Sarajevo Canton, who has jeopardized the rights of teachers, is also demanded, as well as the cessation of administrative reforms that turn teachers into ordinary clerks, and better regulations, curricula, and textbooks that will be continuously adapted and improved in accordance with the needs of modern education, especially the needs of children, students, workers, the labor market, and the latest technologies, with mandatory participation and consideration of the views of workers, employers, and entrepreneurs.
