One hundred hikers on Bjelašnica in memory of Dragi Novaković

BiH, (Patria) - More than a hundred hikers from 20 mountaineering associations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia took part in the Second Memorial Hike on Bjelašnica in memory of mountaineer Dragi Novaković, reports the Patria agency.

The young alpinist and mountain guide from Sarajevo lost his life at the Kotlovi site on the top of Bjelašnica on February 7, 2016, while trying to save a female hiker who had slipped towards a deep abyss.

Dragi Novaković was supposed to be one of the four members of the expedition "Cordillera Blanca", which was preparing to climb the peaks of Vallunaraju (5,686 meters above sea level) and Artesonraju (6,025 meters above sea level) in the Peruvian Andes in South America. When he died, Novaković was 27 years old.

The Memorial Hike on Bjelašnica was organized by the Croatian Mountaineering Society "Bjelašnica 1923", of which Novaković was a member.
