Hundreds of miners protesting in front of the FBiH Government, chanting 'thieves, thieves'

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Workers from seven mines in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, operating within Elektroprivreda BiH, have gathered in front of the FBiH Government building to express their dissatisfaction with their position.

The Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Nermin Džindić, came out with heavy security in front of the miners, but they did not allow him to speak, and he returned to the building amidst whistling. The miners turned their backs on Džindić, shouting 'resign'.

The president of the Independent Trade Union of Mine Workers of FBiH, Sinan Husić, addressed the attendees, stating that the miners will not work unless their demands are met.

The protest began with the singing of the anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the lighting of 100 flares.

Work was suspended in seven mines today in protest.

The banners displayed by the miners read "You abandoned us early", "We are not ashamed, are you?", "We are for the state of BiH, and you?", and others.

The area in front of the FBiH Government is secured by FUP police forces. At one point, the miners sang the song "Bosnom behar probeherao".
