Hundreds of Sarajevo citizens are signing a book of support for Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović and KCUS doctors, set up in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral today from 12 PM, reports Patria agency.
Dr. Gavrankapetanović is a leading European orthopedist. He was dismissed from his position as head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology at KCUS a few weeks ago by the Management Board and KCUS manager Dr. Sebija Izetbegović without providing the public with an explanation for the dismissal, which caused sharp reactions among citizens.
Doctors from KCUS who opposed the dismissal of Dr. Gavrankapetanović claim that the KCUS management is mobbing them.
Among the citizens signing the book of support are a large number of doctors from Sarajevo health centers who came to support their colleagues from KCUS.
A few days earlier, a group of intellectuals, journalists, and other public figures from across Bosnia and Herzegovina sent an open letter to the public and institutions in the country demanding the dismissal of the entire KCUS management and the restoration of respect for professional principles at the largest healthcare institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
