Stolac: Marking the anniversary of the crime against detainees in Koštana Hospital

The Association of Detainees in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Association of Detainees Stolac will mark on Thursday the 23rd anniversary of the crime against detainees in the camp “Koštana Hospital” in Stolac.

- Once a famous hospital for the treatment of bone diseases, it was turned into a notorious camp and instead of a medical facility became a torture site for Bosniak citizens of Stolac and surrounding villages (Aladinići, Pješivac, Greda, Prenj, Rotimlja, Borojevići and others) – state from the Association of Detainees of BiH, Patria reports.

- Through the eponymous camp, which was operational from May to October 1993, between 3,000 and 3,500 Bosniaks passed. Members of the HVO Military Police, who were in charge of guarding the detainees, abused and tortured the detainees in the most brutal ways, and many died from the injuries sustained. In the camp “Koštana Hospital” about 100 detainees were killed, further states the announcement from the Association of Detainees of BiH, NAP reports.
