Livestock farmers in fear: Rustlers stealing sacrificial animals again this year!

Livestock farmers and people raising sacrificial animals are again this year facing thefts of livestock intended for sale as sacrificial animals, writes the Patria News Agency.

As we learned, a calf and several sacrificial animals intended for Eid al-Adha have already been stolen on Bjelašnica. This information has also been confirmed by the police, who say that livestock thefts increase every year before Eid al-Adha.

- We have reports, and this situation is happening throughout the Canton of Sarajevo – say the police, explaining that they are increasing patrols in the parts of the canton where people raise sacrificial animals during this period.

A livestock farmer from Bjelašnica, whose livestock was stolen, says that livestock farmers are also increasing their vigilance over their livestock during this period before Eid, but that rustlers still seize moments of owner inattention and steal the animals.

- The thefts usually happen at night, when everyone is asleep, and in previous years, they have often poisoned guard dogs. It simply seems that we cannot get a wink of sleep before Eid – says the farmer.
