(Patria) - Today, the Minister for Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, Enda Pavić Pečenković, held a meeting with representatives of the Coordination Body for the work of public kitchens in Sarajevo Canton, which was also attended by Saša Magazinović, a representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The topic of the meeting was the practical implementation of the recently adopted Law on Amendments to the Value Added Tax Law, according to which the obligation to pay VAT on donated food has been abolished.
Minister Pavić Pečenković, among other things, tasked the Coordination Body with finding an adequate and efficient way for the practical implementation of the Law in the shortest possible time, all in order to continue ensuring quality meals for persons who are entitled to a hot meal in public kitchens in Sarajevo Canton.
We recall that before the amendment of the said Law, all legal entities were obliged to pay VAT of 17% in the case of donating food, while in the case of destroying or discarding food, VAT amounted to 5%. Thanks to the amendment of the said Law, there is no longer an obligation to pay VAT on donated food, which will particularly contribute to the better functioning of public kitchens.
