STJEPAN POLJE: Ćetenijada hosted 13 teams from several Bosnian cities

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Members of the Youth Cultural Center „Bosna Art“ from Stjepan Polje near Gračanica organized a competition for the best ćetenija in this place for the third time. It is a traditional sugar candy, the preparation of which requires not only low temperatures but also great skill from the cooks. 13 teams from Lukavac, Brčko District, Srebrenik, Modriča and other Bosnian cities responded.

Along with good company, 13 teams competed at the third ćetenijada in Stjepan Polje, which was held this year under the motto „Youth and Experience“.

„We have two teams from Brčko, Srebrenik, Tinja, Lukavac, Modriča. The other teams are from the Gračanica area“, says Hafiza Mehanović, president of OKC Bosna Art, Stjepan Polje, Gračanica.

„By coming, we want to express our gratitude to the organizers, because organizing such an event at this time requires a lot of effort and courage“, stated Adela Mulić, a member of UG 4T from Tarevac near Modriča, reports federalna.ba.

„We are having a wonderful time. We are socializing. The atmosphere is excellent. It's not cold. Great!“, says Nazifa Mujkić, a member of UG Donja Brka, Brčko District.

In preparing ćetenija, a traditional sweet prepared in winter at low temperatures, the experience and skill of the cooks are crucial. What is the secret to good ćetenija, we asked the participants.

„The only important thing is how to stretch it and manage to make the thread as thin as possible, the taste and the way the flour is fried“, explains Hasiba Omerović, president of UŽ Plodovi zemlje Lukavica, Gračanica.

„Sometimes you can be a professional, but it doesn't work out. It's all luck. In any case, we are making good luck so that it works out“, adds Dina Nurković, president of GKUD Lukavac.

Such events, during the winter, complete the cultural offer in the Gračanica region. With the tasting of ćetenija and good spirits, the gathering lasted late into the night.
