Help arrives for Adel, who was forced to wash knives for Chetniks as a boy

After the Patria News Agency published a story about 32-year-old Adel Šabanović, who lost 22 members of his immediate and extended family in Srebrenica and who was forced to wash knives for Chetniks after the slaughter of Bosniaks during the war, many good people have come forward wanting to help, writes the Patria News Agency.

Yesterday, Mirzeta Alić, the mother of Edisa Zaimović, visited Adel at his home in Hadžići. Edisa Zaimović initiated a fundraising campaign in Sweden and collected a significant sum of money, which her mother handed over to Adel yesterday.

As Zaimović stated, she could not remain indifferent to the story of a victim living on 100 KM per month, so with the help of her friends and good people, she collected financial assistance for Adel.

- He will never be alone again. We will try to make his life easier, and stories like this always touch me deeply, which is why I decided to help him – says Zaimović.

We remind you that Adel had an emotional encounter with Husein ef. Kavazović, the Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, during the farewell procession of the Srebrenica victims in Sarajevo, during which he cried while the Reis embraced him.

Šabanović, we remind you, was forced to bring water to members of the Drina Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska to wash their hands and knives after the slaughter of Bosniaks.

Although he was only eight years old, members of the Army of Republika Srpska raped and slaughtered several of his friends and family members before his eyes. My father was killed at the beginning of the aggression, and later my grandfather.

He currently lives in the municipality of Hadžići. He receives only one hundred KM in assistance per month and what good people give him. The house where he lives alone was built for him by benefactors, writes Patria.
