Commission's request arrived: Will the CEC of BiH deliver the voter lists that the RS is requesting for the referendum

The Central Election Commission of BiH has received a request from the Republika Srpska Commission to deliver the Central Voter Lists of citizens of the smaller BiH entity and the Brčko District, which are needed for holding the referendum on the Day of the RS, scheduled for September 25.

Maksida Pirić, spokesperson for the CEC, confirmed for the Patria news agency that the request has arrived, and that the CEC will decide at its session next week whether to deliver the Central Voter Lists or not.  

In the request signed by the President of the Republika Srpska Commission, Siniša Karan, among other things, it states:

-Bearing in mind that Article 4 of the Law on Referendum and Civic Initiative stipulates that citizens who, in accordance with the Constitution and the Law, have the right to vote are entitled to vote in a referendum, and with the aim of implementing the Decision of the National Assembly of the RS as the highest legislative body in the RS, it is necessary that, immediately after the conclusion and confirmation of the Central Voter List, the following be delivered:  

-An extract from the Central Voter List for all persons who, in accordance with electoral regulations, have the right to vote in the RS for each basic electoral unit in the RS

- An extract from the Central Voter List for all citizens of the Brčko District who hold citizenship of the RS and who have the right to vote in the republic referendum to be held on September 25.

According to the Instructions and deadlines of the CEC of BiH for conducting local elections on October 2, the Central Voter List will be finalized on August 18, and the publication of the number of voters for each electoral unit on August 25. 

SDA has already warned the CEC about violating the law 

The SDA has already warned members of the Central Election Commission of BiH and municipal election commissions that any eventual transfer of voter lists to the authorities of the RS for the purpose of organizing an unconstitutional referendum would constitute a criminal offense sanctioned under Article 239 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
