Tegeltija arrives, and with him the Cyrillic script, violation of the Constitution and ombudsman regulations

(Patria) - Zoran Tegeltija, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, has been at the helm of the State government for almost a year, little has been done, work has only just begun a year after the elections, but bad practice was immediately introduced.

Namely, since taking office, announcements from the Council of Ministers have come exclusively in the Serbian language and Cyrillic script, which greatly hinders the work of journalists.

Even the conclusions of the Council of Ministers session were sent in Cyrillic script, and after we contacted the press service of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Mirjana Micevska, head of this service, said that it would be published on the website in Latin script!?

Regarding the issuance of official documents and forms in all three official languages and scripts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is uneven practice in the country, although the use of all three official languages in BiH is prescribed by the constitutions, as well as by lower-level legal acts.

Until now, this was only the practice in the RS. We hope that Tegeltija and the employees of the Council of Ministers will respect the Constitution and soon begin sending their announcements in three languages and two scripts.

The constitutions are clear and stipulate that the official languages are Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian, and the official scripts are Cyrillic and Latin, which also applies to the printing and issuance of official documents and forms, and this area is further regulated by the Laws on Registers, Rulebooks on the form of forms and certificates, and other by-laws. Article 2, paragraph 4, of the Constitution of BiH stipulates that all persons in BiH enjoy the rights and freedoms provided for by the Constitution of BiH or international agreements without discrimination based on language.

The Human Rights Ombudsmen of BiH have taken a unified stance that it is necessary to take all measures to ensure the issuance and printing of forms and official documents in all official languages by the competent institutions, with the aim of establishing full equality of languages and scripts as determined by the constitutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its entities.
